Interlibrary Loan of the day
Today's ILL of the day is The Adventures of Groovy Lily in the Land of the Baking Sun and Waterslides. I couldn't locate a cover image for this one, but the back cover blurbs: "Join Lily and her trusty sidekicks in her latest and greatest adventure yet! Be amazed as she explores strange and exotic locales searching for the the fabled Perfect Pair of Shoes! Cringe in terror when she escapes the clutches of the sinister Doctor Badger and narrowly evades the terrible Troll!" This sounds like an incredibly exciting story; I wonder if there's an audio book version?

Hey, are you saying that searching for the perfect pair of shoes is in any way not exciting??!! Apparently you're not shopping with the right group of folks. :-) While I've never even seen a badger, sinister or otherwise, personally I know I've met a few terrible "trolls" in my life. I can't help but wonder what our own "Groovelily" thinks of this book...
I thought there was some kind of rule about making up titles? OMG you crack me up. For further explanation, contact groovelily in person.
I hadn't noticed the odd similarity between the names Groovy Lily and Groovelily. Thanks to Jazzergigi for pointing that out. Weird.
As a further aside, I want to make it perfectly clear, that the author of this admittedly odd book meant no insult to shoe shoppers. The inclusion of the "Perfect Pair of Shoes" was clearly meant as an homage to shoe shoppers rather than a point of derision.
Amazing! I’ve been looking for a copy of that book… I had no idea it was still in print. I hate to spoil the ending for everyone, but Lily does, indeed, find the perfect pair of shoes. And her sweet and charming disposition (not to mention her unrivaled beauty), makes the evil Doctor Badger change his ways forever. (Oh yeah, and everyone lives happily ever after).
I'm pretty sure that I have encountered another installment of the Groovy Lily saga...it's a short story called 'Groovy gets a Sweater'. The plot revolves around our Groovy getting an expensive sweater as a Christmas gift. The gift-giver spends most of the story encouraging Groovy to return the sweater if it's not to her liking, all the while reminding Groovy that it's an 'expensive' sweater. The plot is well-paced and the characters are compelling. No Badger or Trolls though.
Geez I wish my own life was exciting as this Groove Lily. I wonder if she has any overly goofy friends? lol.
